Safely Giving Hair Hue with Herbal Hair Treatments

Hair conditioner is the most popular method of improving the hair’s health, but Nareemal Nareemal Chiengpradit, founder of Mamma Samunprai Salon, said the opposite is true. Hair conditioner in the market is often the cause of hair loss, as a build-up of conditioner residue can clog the hair follicles, causing hair to fall out. But of course, it is easier to cover up the flaws than to treat the problem at its core, isn’t it? With the choice between using hair conditioner, which takes five minutes, and taking proper care of the hair, which takes a lifetime’s disciplined habit, people would usually go for the first.

Healthy hair should not require conditioning to begin with. Naturally, healthy hair will shine on its own. Pollution and chemicals cause the hair to become dull and damaged. The best way to bring back the shine is to detoxify the hair and avoid all chemicals. Fancy-sounding ingredients we see in commercials are unnecessary chemicals that could prolong hair problems, as most chemicals leave build-ups or cause irritation.

An herbal recipe is particularly good at preventing and healing hair loss, and its colour-enhancing effect makes it more preferable in trying to hide grey strands without tainting the hair with chemicals.
Indian gooseberry can give a mahogany colour to grey hair, suitable for those whose hair is brown, while soap nut gives it a darker shade.

Naparat Sihanatkathakul, owner of Bliss Spa, fell in love with herbal hair treatments and decided to introduce the treatment to clients at her spa. She coupled the basic, natural hair care treatment with a touch of fashion and luxurious ambience.

The formula can be changed based on the customer’s hair condition, but the core ingredients are the same. In extreme cases, the customer might be required to use salt water to clear up the scalp before the treatment, as severely damaged scalp and hair might not take the formula at all. An herbal hair treatment takes six hours, from application to rinsing. Customers are free to leave the salon and come back for a wash, or they can wash the hair themselves at home. There are two formulas available: for healthy scalps and for troubled scalps.

‘The treatment needs to be left on the head for six hours, so I had to come up with something for the customers to make it fun and fashionable. Just because something works, it does not mean the customers will want to spend six hours with messy hair. I invested in fashionable hair scarves to make it look more like an accessory than an attempt at covering up the hair’, said Naparat.

While the guests are free to leave, usually they don’t, thanks to the selection of healthy snacks and drinks offered at the spa. She added that since the introduction of herbal hair treatments, the spa has seen more customers than ever.

Since the ingredients are all natural, results will not show immediately. In fact, after the first treatment, your hair will feel dry, since it takes more than one treatment for the natural ingredients to fight the chemical residue on your hair.

Twice-weekly treatments for a month will make your hair naturally healthy, and you can finally say bye-bye to synthetically formulated hair conditioners.
